Ex workshop lead rack, this one is a "golden oldie!"
USED
VINTAGE TEST LEAD
Balanced audio use
3 pin XLR Male ~ 2x unbranded, short barrel banana plugs which are Silver Plated
XLR male connector is a CANNON XLP-3-12SC (vintage type with the Black plastic cable clamp nut & all rubber cable strain relief tail)
The two short banana plastic bodies s are nice, although unbranded, they remind me of vintage Palermo plugs! All over Silver plated with a screw on high impact plastic body.
All terminations are soldered on each connector, with the banana plugs using the "sweat soldering" technique
The cable is two wire with a copper braid but I cannot find any ID stamping on the Black sheath. Of note is the insulator inside the cable, this uses jute! I have had this test lead since the late 1960's ~ 1970's and jute was pretty normal for quality cabling in those days.
4 metres lead length
5mm sheath OD
HOW IS IT CURRENTLY CONFIGURED?
Currently wired "non-standard" as this was used with some specialised equipment with non-standardised connections ... easy to re-arrange the wiring in any case.
XLR BANANA PLUG COLOUR
Pin 1 - connected to the outer braid at the XLR connector but not used at the "far end" of the lead
Pin 2 BLACK
Pin 3 RED
Yes, for audio use the wiring is just a bit "strange" not to mention the colour coding used for the usual "Hot" and Signal Ground signals, but this is because the lead wasn't originally used with "standard" configuration XLR audio connections.
Measured capacitance: 77pF per foot
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
CLEAN
All connectors are in very good condition with no damage and all contact areas are clean.
I have now placed this test lead into a clear, sealed plastic packet awaiting a new owner.
