BACKGROUND:

Another odd piece(s) that my wife has handed me, at least it is a bit different to the usual chinaware that comes my way!

These two pieces are identical in shape and form but of course, different coloured glass. I have checked the Green~Yellow glass for signs of Uranium content, there is none.

Both pieces have been made in a two piece mould, with side seams visible but no base seam or join.

No manufacturers marks could be found anywhere on these but (in my opinion) the attraction of these is the "look" not their heritage as during the 1930's ~ 1940's time were very tough for most folk and these pressed glass items were not particularly valuable, in fact often they were given away as promotional material (to try and stir up business)

I personally love the colours, my wife agrees and she used to have these sitting on a shelf in a bay window so that the natural sunlight would be "caught" by these and produce these stunning colours. She only used them as ornaments, a bit too small for a flower vase or too deep for trinkets.

UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER - Depression Glass Ornament(s)

Country of origin is unknown

No manufacturers marks or identification on the glassware

Pressed glass using the 2 sided mould technique

Each is available separately OR purchase both and an automatic discount applies (they are twins afterall!)

ORNAMENT 1: Pale Yellow ~ Green

ORNAMENT 2: Light Pale Mauve

Shape of both ornaments is identical, something similar to a "squat" vase but (in our opinion) too short for use as a vase, not even posies as the mouth is too wide.

Design on each ornament is identical, pressed shapes such as diamonds and what appear to be upside down tear drops

Solid stable base (no wobbles!)

Although I would not have been surprised to see these, there are NO glass bubbles that I noticed in the Green ornament. This type of glassware often had little glass bubbles, they were not "precision" made but I do see one glass bubble in the base foot of the Mauve ornament and also near the foot there is a small area where the glass appears to be slightly frosted and feels a little rough. This is NOT something stuck onto the glass but the glass itself was not properly formed in the mould. These two "flaws" are not visually noticeable unless you are a "nit picker" like myself! In fact they add an air of "authenticity" to the era from which it came.
