The Co-operative Wholesale Society (C.W.S. Ltd) worked from the Windsor pottery located at Longton. The pottery began in 1911 and operated the tradename, Windsor. It was acquired in 1971, after which the trade name changed to Royal Windsor.
Slowly my wife is passing to me some of her treasured Windsor pieces, some are like this teacup - literally the pieces such as a teacup sitting all alone, looking forlorn and without a friend OR her vibrant, slightly wacky looking Art Deco design complete trio's.
Why treasured? C.W.S. under the trade name Windsor, produced some really, really interesting pieces, especially their use of colours and designs in the Art Deco realm. If you spot a piece of Windsor out there in the big wide world, particularly their Deco pieces, you will notice it immediately! ... just stunning.
This teacup is not in the Art Deco genre with no geometric shapes or decorations of any kind in fact - just nice soft, pale colours - a teacup with class that you could happily take home to meet Mum and it doesn't set out to visually assault you or your friends!

Design: No decorations have been applied, this teacup is about the unusual shape and the two colours used, which are offset by the heavy application of Gold gilding around the rim, all over the handle and in a band around the foot.
Outside of teacup colour is a "wash" of light Mauve
Inside of the teacup colour is a "wash" of a pale Lemon
Hex (six) lobed sides to the shape of the teacup
BACKSTAMP DETAILS:

Makers mark printed on the base of the teacup using metallic Gold paint and using the same paint is some sort of coding which doesn't appear to correspond to a pattern number. Notice also the Green mark next to the W in WINDSOR, this is the decorator's mark.
DIMENSIONS:
TEACUP: 85mm mouth x 75mm height
COSMETIC CONDITION:
CLEAN
NO cracks
NO chips
NO crazing observed (Dry & Wet tested)
NO discolouration or scratching was observed to any area of the outside Mauve finish or the inside pale Lemon colouring.
Gold gilding (which has been heavily hand applied) is ALMOST perfect with two light wear marks to the back of the teacup handle due to handling over the years. Not terrible wear but noticeable when you look closely (look for the light Grey area on the handle, not the Black (which is just a reflection in the photo)
