BACKGROUND:
PYE were originally a British company, their products were aimed at the professional broadcast market and they were a well established "name" in that industry until around the mid 1980's when the company was "divested" with Philips picking up a number of their products but for the consumer, products were then produced in the PYE "name only", being manufactured in Taiwan i.e made to a consumer "price point"
HERE is a great wealth of information about PYE UK, the birth of the company and their progression through the years, with a number of interesting articles and photographs.
This cassette door assembly was extracted from a CD6D "HiFi" Cassette machine produced under the name PYE in the 1980's. I seriously doubt anyone is actually going to restore an old PYE consumer model piece of equipment BUT think laterally, just perhaps this door may suit use with another machine ... see some of the details below about the dimensions and build of this door.

Two piece door assembly, plastic based
Two prominent knurled Aluminium "thumbscrews" secure this door to the machine.
DIMENSIONS (as a guide if being contemplated for use in a non-CD6D machine)
Outer Section (clear perspex)
4mm thick, bevelled edging
128mm wide x 76mm height
2x 4.1mm diameter holes at the bottom edge for the thumbscrews
Inner Section (Light Grey plastic with a metallic Silver facia - not sure if this is a stick on metallic Silver or a coating, it certainly isn't solid metal)
Externally: 120mm wide x 68mm height
Inner Window: 82mm wide x 33mm height
Simple tape travel measurement scale (100-50-0) plus the text AUTOMATIC SHUT - OFF, both in Black printed text which doesn't appear to be impressed into the plastic.
2x 4.4mm diameter holes at the bottom edge, again for the thumscrews ... note that these two holes are slightly larger than the front section holes.
Thumbscrews
8.25mm diameter x 4.2mm depth head which has been knurled on the sides with a flat front facing top surface.
10.25mm length thread which is partially "stepped", this being the reason for the section holes having different diameters.
There is no manufacturing trade names or other markings, on these parts, creating no problems when used with "other equipment"

The front clear perspex section does have LIGHT scuff marks but nothing terribly serious. No deep scratching or cracks!
The rear section is in very good condition as it has been protected for all these years behind the perspex section (big brother looking after little brother!)
This means that I can see NO scratching or marks on this section and the Black print is in pristine condition.
The knurled screws are fine, a slight dullness to the surface but still retaining some shine. Some more rigorous metal polishing would bring this back up to "Oh you bright shiny thing" standard, if that was the desired look. At least they are "real" metal and not that horrible pseudo metal plastic that was used in some Japanese gear of the day.
I have now packed this two sections with the thumbscrews nicely and safely in sealed clear plastic and it now sits on the shelf waiting for a "new purpose in life"
