This record is a very special recording of the Australian poet A.D Hope (Professor) b 1907 - d 2000

A.D Hope is an Australian poet of originality and distinction whose work has made a deep impression by its combination of intellectual weight, sensuous immediacy, emotional tension and at times sardonic satire.
The last quality first bought him into prominence, to the temporary obscuring of his other claims to attention, but the poems here presented illustrate his virtues in non-satirical modes.
There are 3 poems on Side A and 4 poems on Side B, all read by the poet himself. Yes, you can purchase books of his poem's but the experience is enhanced so much by listening to Alec read his own works ... amazing!
Extremely difficult to locate any copies of this record in the 21st century, I have only seen the National Archives with a copy.
Brolga Records were in the business of promoting the arts in Australia, the first volume (The Poet Speaks 1) featured Dame Mary Gilmore.

This would make Alec Hope 51 years old at the time of this recording.
Cover is in very good - excellent condition, just a light pencil mark on the rear indicating the original price (17/6 which was a LOT of money way back in the late 50's)
