BACKGROUND:

These smart LED lamps are both brand new items, never used (except one had been opened but not installed ... more about that a bit further down)

I am very much "old school" and the years are piling up, my first foray into electronics involved wonderful things such as valves (those nice glowing bottles!) Germanium semiconductors (I remember building gear based on the OC and AC series transistors) then moving into Silicon based semiconductors and even GaAs devices for RF use. I love analog and co-exist with digital but much prefer a sine-wave over a square wave!

However, while I avoid "modern" technology as much as possible (believe it or not I do not own a smart phone!) there are times when curiosity gets the better of me or a family member asks me to "help out" with something "electronic" they want done.

First (about 6 years ago), I was asked to install various smart speakers around the home (both Google and Alexa for comparison) then came the "add-ons" i.e lights, camera ... action!

Our daughter wanted to have "mood lighting" in her living area and if possible, make it voice controlled. I looked around and found the easiest lamps to do this were these Genio's from Mirabella with many retailers having them available. So I bought a bunch of these for her bedroom and her small lounge "chill out" area and these lamps work an absolute treat!

Her friends thought (and still do) that it was so cool that you could just say "Hey Google, turn on lights Green" and hey presto, the room lighting changes to a nice Emerald Green colour. When leaving the room she just says "Hey Google, turn lights off" and they fade down to off - very nice.

We used them at our other property for a couple of years and then she moved ... it is this move that has created the situation where I have two of these Genio's left over.

Why?

The other property has BC (bayonet) lamp fittings but this property that she lives in now has ES (Edison Screw) fittings - in other words, the old lamps (although new) are useless now because they do not fit the screw sockets.

Our website is not a retail outlet or "trading house", the site is simply a place that we use to find new homes for all the "extra stuff" we have collected and the idea of adding these to landfill is abhorrent to us!

We are sustainability driven, not profit driven!

So, let me describe these lamps and give you some "real life" usage tips

MIRABELLA - Smart LED Colour Changing Bulbs

Country of origin: China

Circa around 2020 (this is when I bought these for the other property, notice the packaging has changed with the current offerings in the shops)

Product code: 1002608

240V operation (designed and sold in Australia for Australian use)

BC base - this is what is often referred to as a bayonet base (round with two side pins - very commonly used in Australian households, but not this house unfortunately!)

800 Lumen (equivalent to around 9W in the old incandescent light measurement system) - see my comments below for further experiences regarding this brightness intensity.

Wi-Fi enabled ... this means your Wi-Fi system can talk to these lamps and tell them what to do under control of the software on your phone and/or via a smart speaker system such as Google or Alexa

Two are available, one is in the box and completely sealed (as removed from the shelf at Woolworths 5 or so years ago) and the other is in the same condition EXCEPT the plastic seal has been removed ... when I installed in this property I didn't think it through and had already opened the box when I realised this lamp was not going to fit the light fittings! A "Senior's Moment!"

COSMETIC CONDITION:

NEW (although one package has had the clear plastic removed)

NEVER USED

Clean

Undamaged packaging

SOME PERSONAL EXPERIENCE "INSIGHTS" INTO THESE SMART COLOUR LAMPS ...

No special light fittings are needed, just take out your old BC type lamp and fit one of these.

Next you scan the QR code on the packaging and download the Mirabella app to your phone - this is how you set up the light(s) for control - they need to know network details and you need to give each lamp a "name" for you to address it by.

Once done, you could use your smartphone to control the light(s) but for us at least, using the smart speaker system (Google in our daughters case) made much more sense, so she just talks to the smart speaker and the lights follow her instructions.

She has had these in her old living space for around three years and also here in her existing bedroom ~ lounge area (but the ES base type) and I recall only once did a lamp give problems (it stopped listening to the Wi-Fi) so these are very reliable.

Overall, to achieve very nice mood lighting effects these are fantastic quite frankly BUT ... in our opinion just not bright enough for use throughout the house. By this I mean the light intensity is "OK" but we like bright lights in the general house area and use LED lamps around 1450 Lumen or 23W - also we don't have a need to change the room colouring! But for our daughter, it's perfect.

Oh, another interesting thing that I found when first using these ... our light fittings use dual lamps. I set up each lamp as a separate device via the app and by giving voice commands to one lamp or the other, colour mixing can be made - this just gives more flexibility to user.

Some of the photographs I have included show the ACTUAL lamps in action, with various colour combinations that I told Google to make.

Lastly, keep in mind that these lamps are designed for use on a "normal" 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi system, not the 5Ghz networks - so if you have the latter, I wouldn't bother trying to use these.

I don't just offer things on my website, we try to make the advertisements interesting and informative - not just a bunch of speil straight off the box!

As explained earlier, we do not trade in these things - there are only two and then no more ...
