DLAT RATING: 9/10 (Darling Look At This)
SHELLEY - Side plate ONLY
Made in England
Design: Regal (13389)
Hand painted (artist & gilder's markings to the underside)
Circa 1938 ~ 1966 although my wife indicates it is most likely that this piece is from the 1950's (she acquired a LOT of Shelley dating from the 1950's period)
Base china is a bright White
Translucent, meaning that if the plate is held up to the light it is easy to see the shadow of your fingers through the plate.
Very 'busy' decorative design (it must have taken quite some time for the artist to decorate these pieces) featuring sprays of multi-coloured flowers which are framed by extensive scroll work with a Teal background. Finished with heavy Gold gilding around the lightly scalloped rim.
DIMENSIONS:
153mm diameter
BACKSTAMP

Note the presence of the artist and gilder's markings
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
NO cracks
NO crazing observed (wet & dry checked)
NO damage or wear is apparent to the decorative artwork
NO fleabites
NO apparent damage or wear to the trim, heavily applied Gold gilding at all
To date, my wife has not handed me the matching teacup or saucer so at this stage I am offering only this side plate
