BACKGROUND:
Yes, yet more Royal Doulton but not "Doulton of old", a mere youngster under the Royal Doulton umbrella being around only 20 years old, a mere child!
While this is absolutely genuine Royal Doulton, these were NOT made in England. Manufacturing costs caught up with a number of traditional UK ceramics producers and while trying to delay the inevitable, eventually they had to give into lower manufacturing costs overseas, Royal Doulton included. These two items were actually manufactured in Indonesia, note the complete absence of any wording relating to ENGLAND on the backstamps.
The factory was located in Jakarta and operated by PT Doulton, a subsidiary of PT Doulton Multifortuna, and established by Royal Doulton. You will also find similar "vintage" items from Royal Albert & Minton that came from these same works.
Same high quality as you would expect from Royal Doulton but definitely not from "The Old Dart"

Yes, these are translucent, meaning that if you hold the bowl or mug up to a strong light source (even though the walls are quite thick) you can see a shadow of your fingers through the material.

Indicative of contemporary manufacture, the backstamp indicates these are:
Dishwasher safe

CHILDS CEREAL BOWL
Design: Similar to (but not the same as) Doulton design # DB167, Mother Rabbit holding Baby Rabbit. Mum is wear a Pink dress and baby is in a Yellow dress. Departures from DB167 are that Mum is sitting on the floor, surrounded by some toys and to her left is a tiny Green bed, which looks barely large enough for baby! Traditional iconic running rabbits around the rim.
DIMENSIONS:
158mm (6.25") diameter, wide 15mm rim, x 44mm (1.75") height
WEIGHT:
475g - this means that while it will not be easily overturned by the infant, if allowed to drop to the floor ... that would not be a good thing! (It never is)
If someone was actually going to use this cereal bowl, perhaps some Royal Doulton melamine could be considered if your "darling" is intent on throwing their bowl to the floor, take a look HERE at what I have at the moment from Royal Doulton.
CHILDS TWO HANDLED MUG
Design: Two decorations, one on either side of the mug. One shows Mother Rabbit & another grown up female rabbit, in "mid air" as though they are dancing or caught by the wind! The other decoration shows just Mother rabbit and the same additional grown up rabbit (holding an umbrella) but no baby rabbit this time. I get the distinct impression they also "mid air", perhaps due to the wind. Traditional iconic running rabbits around the top of each decoration.

240g - this means that while it will not be easily tipped over, if allowed to drop to the floor ... that would not be a good thing! (It never is)

NO crazing
NO damage to the transferware artwork
NO discolouration to the artwork
NO internal stains or marks (from previous use)
NO spoon or knife (in a bowl?) marks to the inside of the cereal bowl
No word of a lie, these are both in such great condition and it is a shame the original boxes have long gone ... I do know these were presented to me by others in the family "Dad, we don't need these any longer - can you see if someone else would like them?" type of thing - in reality, these toddler pieces really have quite a short 'usage lifetime' as the toddler grows up and the "Little Angel" in our family certainly doesn't need one at 30 years old!
