BACKGROUND
To many, this length of cable may well have ended up at the local rubbish tip, however I am very big on reusing or repurposing old electronic components and hardware, from the point of view of sustainability - if it still functions and a purpose can be found for the item, it seems so wasteful to toss such items in the rubbish and possibly poison our environment. Not only that but so much energy (Embedded Energy or Ee) was used converting the raw material to usable product, assembling the product, intermediary transportation, manufacturing assembly and finally out to the end user, that again we just "write off" all that energy and recreate the product once again - not so smart!

This very nice multicore cable once was sitting in a broadcast studio, being used as a serial comms cable for connection to some ancient broadcast camera's, actually ex our "Aunty" (ABC) from a long long time ago in the dim mists of time. I cut off the D25 connectors (nice as they were!) and had this thought bubble "Hey, I can use this nice length of cable - one day" that day never came so this cable is now looking for a new workshop that may be able to provide a purpose in life for it.
The primary features of this cable are the thick sheath, double shielding (outer tinned braid plus tight wrap aluminium foil) and the very small inner colour coded conductors.
I have included information about the sheath printing to assist those interested in determining if the cable may suit their purposes.
I probably wouldn't be running audio or analog video through this cable, it was intended for low voltage control signals and who knows what the impedance may be!

I cannot tell if the conductors run in a "twist" formation to reduce mutual interference between conductors.
Outer braid is tinned (not Silver plated as with other cable I have)
Inner shielding is a tightly wrapped Aluminium with a stranded drain wire

Clean (sheath) although some light marks along the length of the cable (it was used afterall and often dragged across the studio floor)
NO damage to the sheath along the entire length of the cable - I have checked this very carefully, at no point has the sheath been "nicked" or damaged.
Inner shields & conductors (when stripped back) are bright and clean (no water has been here!)
Now safely packed into a sealed clear plastic packet waiting to take on a new purpose
