BACKGROUND:
I hear you! Most would be thinking "Seriously? WTF..."
While 'old school' DVD machines, in fact any DVD machines, have been largely superseded by contemporary delivery systems such as streaming but there are still folks who like to restore these "old girl" DVD machines (not everything is available via streaming) and this hardware may help someone out who has a 'sick' XV-HTD1 ...
This was an age when the Japanese manufacturers were really into the "plastic way", even the metallic look was just plastic dressed up to look like metal!
These button assemblies are so typical of the times, strips of preformed plastic buttons which had a movable "hinge" on one side. Fine while the hinge was sound but after many pushes of those buttons, the hinge tended to give way and the function which the button controlled would no longer work.
I recently had a couple of these monstrous Pioneer XV-HTD1's on the workbench, one for restoration (the Museum) and the other underwent "the operation" - the careful extraction of organs (components) for reuse in other machines.
These button assemblies are some of the removed "organs" ...

I am very much "into" sustainability and a complete tape machine represents a LOT of embedded energy and to waste that embedded energy is a very bad thing, even worse is to bury it in landfill and subsequently poison our environment!

So my motivation is 'saving things' where they may be old but still useful or possibly be repurposed.
Here are the details of this spare part from the DVD Receiver
PIONEER (Japan) - Set Of Button Assemblies (strips)
Material: Plastic with a metallic Silver coating applied
Three separate assemblies which are destined for the front panel areas indicated in one of the photographs. Some additional support hardware is also provided but I would expect the user would already have the required mounting hardware in any case.
It is extremely unlikely these assemblies will suit any other machine, dedicated to the XV-HTD1
SPARE PART ONLY Seems obvious but a couple of times people have ordered parts such as this expecting to get the complete machine (Fair suck of the sav, mate!)
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
CLEAN
NO physical damage to any of the assemblies ... the most critical section is that hinge and all are sound and not showing any signs of weakness.
Fronts of all buttons (decals) are all fine and not worn away or missing at all
Shafts of all buttons are clean and undamaged
Pretty obvious but I will just repeat this ... NO switches are provided (they are on the PCB's behind these buttons) - just the plastic button strips.
To ensure everything remains "fine and dandy", I have placed these assemblies onto a stiff cardboard backing and then sealed within clear plastic and bubblewrap - nice and snug while waiting for another machine to live in!
