BACKGROUND

These wires links are from Broadcast equipment modules, used to carry medium current AC or DC to panel connectors (DIN41612 type) but adaptable to many other similar uses.

To many these short lengths of wire could be considered a worthless piece of left over bits and pieces from obsoleted equipment but I am very big on reusing or repurposing old electronic components and hardware, from the point of view of sustainability - if it still functions and a purpose can be found for the item, it seems so wasteful to toss such items in the rubbish, bordering on irresponsible.

HERE is a page I have created which gives some tables and more detailed information about specific Ee values (Embodied Energy) for different materials plus a link which you can use as a starting point to investigate Ee for yourself.

UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER - Wire Links With Spade Connector Each End

Country of origin Australia (ABC Workshops most likely)

80mm length insulated wire (looks to be stranded) 1.95mm OD colour coded sheath (Black, Blue & Red)

BRASS Female spade connector at each end with an insulating sleeve fitted ... a little hard to get the micrometer inside this connector but as a rough guide it would appear to be approximately 7mm wide.

Here is a photograph of a typical DIN41612 mating connector that these females were designed for

This collection of "wire jumpers" is only offered as one pack of 14x leads, colour coded quatities are:

BLACK: 6

BLUE: 6

RED: 2

COSMETIC CONDITION:

USED

Clean

NO physical damage to the wire sheath nor any of the connectors

I noticed a "Greenish" look between the connector outer insulating sleeve and the Brass connector but this is NOT signs of oxidisation but instead it would seem that an adhesive of some type has been applied inside to ensure the insulating sleeve does not slip away from the connector.

This bundle of 14x jumper wires is now stored in a sealed, clear plastic packet - patiently waiting to be put to work once again!
