The novel is presented in graphic (comic strip) format and deals with the author interviewing his Dad, a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. Employing postmodern techniques, Art represents Jews as mice, Germans as dogs and Polish people as pigs.
This book contains the complete serialised releases, 1980 ~ 1991 and in 1992 won Art the Pulitzer prize (Special Award In Letters), a first for a graphic novel.
