Bell China was the trade name used by Shore & Coggins Ltd, England

The backstamp indicates the period that this piece left the works would have been somewhere between 1936 & 1966 although I feel the 1950's would be a more accurate time period for this piece based on the hand painted decoration, art design with soft pale colouring and the tea cup shape.

At the moment, my wife has not handed me any other pieces of this Old Country Spray design, just this teacup is currently available.

DLAT Rating: 9.5/10 (Darling Look At This!)

BELL CHINA - Teacup (1) ONLY

Fine Bone China Teacup

Design/pattern: Old Country Spray

Probably circa 1950's period

Translucent fine china, meaning that when it is held to the light you can easily see the shadow of your hand through the chinaware

Hand painted

Soft, pale "spray" of typical English meadow flowers (including Bluebells) with decoration INSIDE the teacup mouth.

TWO artwork designs are painted onto the cup, the largest on one side, a smaller (different) design on the other side and a small bouquet WITHIN the teacup.

Gold gilding has been applied around the top rim, both sides and the back of the handle and around the base.

BACKSTAMP DETAILS:

Artist's mark is at the base of the the backstamp, no gilder's markings

DIMENSIONS:

80mm diameter 'mouth' x 70mm height

CONDITION:

Very Good condition

NO cracks

NO fleabites

NO crazing

Artwork is not worn at all

NO tannin (tea) stains inside the cup

Gold gilding is in very good condition, no wear is apparent to any area ... even the often handled handle, nice!

Overall, this teacup is a nice, warm feeling teacup and just a little different with the lovely Bluebell flowers.
