BACKGROUND:
Avon Ware was a registered trade name of Avon Art Pottery Ltd, located in Longton and beginning operations in 1930
A very creative potter, many of their products have a distinctly artistic "feel", particularly the character jugs and animal figures.
This dish though is quite "plain" having a simple overall Pink wash, while the dish has leaf patterning and a wide tab handle to allow for presentation of the contents to guests e.g nuts or sweets in each side of the dish

Circa 1947 ~ 1968 although my wife feels this left their works in the 1950's
Design: simple leaf patterns in the ceramic and finished with an overall pale Pink wash
NO Gold gilding or other decorative finish to the edges or rim
DIMENSIONS:
180mm x 125mm x 20mm depth
Tab handle runs across the entire "back" and measures 140mm length i.e easy to hold and manage this twin dish when offering items to guests

COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
NO chips
NO cracks
NO damage to the pale Pink wash colouring, no "patching"
This was probably just a bit more of a brighter Pink in its earlier life as on the underside in particular I can clearly see quite a bit of crazing (cracked glazing) which is quite normal for very old ceramics subjected to changes in temperature, cleaning etc - just like all of us, we all start to crack when ageing!
