Early 20th Century spectacular hand decorated pieces from Alfred Meakin. Vibrant Imari-style colour palettes (cobalt blue, rust red, and gold) along with elaborate, hand-painted Edwardian florals.
My wife hands me a LOT of chinaware that she wishes should "leave home" due to her increasing interest in 19th Century ceramics and porcelains but I have to tell you ... there is something so very special to be holding these pieces in my hands knowing that someone, 110 ~ 120 years ago, also held these when they were being decorated ... of course the decorator(s) have long since passed but their work lives on!

Circa turn of the century i.e 1907 ~ 1914
Pattern: Windsor
Opaque Ironstone chinaware (meaning that if held up to a light, you cannot see a shadow of your fingers through the china)
Cream base colouring overall
Shapes: While the teacup and saucer are quite "traditional" in shape, the side plate is eight sided (Octagonal)

TEACUP: 77mm OD mouth x 68mm height
SAUCER: 140mm OD
SIDE PLATE: 148mm x 149mm (with "cut" corners creating an octagonal shape)

COSMETIC CONDITION:
While not perfect, this trio is in amazing condition
NO cracks to any piece
NO damage or discolouration to the decorations
Teacup handle Gold gilding shows no significant handling wear
Teacup inside has no discolouration from tannin (tea)
NO significant wear or damage to the extensive, heavily applied Gold gilding
Specific "flaws" noticed are ...
Teacup: side has a Blue coloured "smudge" which seems to be UNDER the glaze (perhaps the decorator's "Woopsie" moment)
I must say that the hand decorating of the teacup is particularly amazing, extensive decoration INSIDE the mouth of the teacup, including Gold gilding.
Saucer: the topside is very nice but on the underside there are some of those "Blue smudges" such as with the teacup.
Note that we have TWO saucers, one does have some tiny "dots" on the topside and BOTH saucers do have one small fleabite on the underside, not discoloured - you can select which saucer you want using the selection boxes on this page.
Side Plate: no Blue smudges on this plate but it does have 3 ~ 4 small fleabites which are not discoloured at all.
