BACKGROUND:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still appears to be functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.
If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE
This retail pack smacks of nostalgia, the days when your local retail electronics store was a "Tandy" here in Australia or Radioshack over in USA. I cannot recall if Dick Smith was even "on the scene" in those days but Tandy often had some interesting items in their catalogue. They didn't manufacture their products generally but sourced from reliable OEM suppliers, usually in Japan.
This is one such retail offering from those days - the packaging is a little bit "tired looking" but the jacks inside have been vacuum sealed into the pack and remain nice and shiny after all this time. Great for the "Electronics Museum" or just if you need a couple of reasonable quality 1/4" mono jack sockets.
ARCHER (USA) - 1/4" Jack Sockets (2) Retail Pack
Country of origin Japan (manufacturer was unable to be identified)
2x 1/4" Jack Sockets
Mono (TS) JACK with one switched contact (NC)
Product code: 274-255
NEW retail pack (but VERY old stock)
The components remain in the original vacuum seal and appear clean and shiny (no oxidisation)
The laminated backing cardboard is pretty "tired" looking but still holding it's act together
A bit of retail component supply nostalgia for those who yearn for such things - and the jacks are perfectly useable too ...
