HISTORY & SOME "BLURB"

USED DEVICE "PULLS"

TESTED both upon equipment removal (a long time ago from professional sound reinforcement amplifiers) and retested TODAY

Ex workshop spare parts and small manufacturing stock

This device and it's "mate" the BUZ901 are commonly found in British designed high power audio equipment.

Horrendously expensive to buy "new" and watch out for fakes, they abound in the market price (if it's too good to be true, it most likely is NOT a real SML device) - be especially wary of Asian offerings! Only the original British SML devices are the real deal.

My asking price only just covers the time I have spent on testing these devices, they have already "earned their keep" in their past life (equipment was upgraded) AND I am big on reusing or repurposing old electronic components and hardware, particularly from the point of view of sustainability.

HERE is a page I have created which gives some tables and more detailed information about specific Ee values for different materials plus a link which you can use as a starting point to investigate Ee for yourself.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

USED

These are not your "pretty shiny TO-3's" most have some casing discolouration, oxidisation but the pins are remain completely usable.

NO pins have been cut

ALL pins are either without solder completely (originally in sockets) OR the solder has been properly removed - ready for reuse.

TESTING:

A bit of a chore but I set up my ESD safe work area, strapped myself up for zero discharge voltage and ONLY ever handled these devices by the case edge.

ALWAYS treat MOSFET's with the greatest respect, particularly with regard to the potential of harming the device through static discharge and if you do make a mistake, they may not even fail immediately. I have had devices mysteriously fail weeks later and the cause was traced back to a technician who refused to put on the ESD wristband in our workshops, and he was wearing a nylon shirt! Urghhh! recipe for disaster!

These devices being offered have ALWAYS been stored in a special TO-3 ESD safe carrier tube, and they will be supplied the same way.

Using my trusty component tester, I checked each and every device being offered - specifically the Drain-Source voltage and capacitance.

Every device, on the underside, I have written the test results - obviously ALL are fine, with no shorts or open circuit devices!

NOTE: There is a smaller ESD carrier with just 3 devices in it - those have the leads with NO SOLDER at all on the pins because they were in sockets. If they are still available, and you would prefer them, please TELL ME!
