This acoustic stethoscope has been designed and is distributed by Australian-owned Sutherland Medical, based in Victoria however it appears that these were actually manufactured in China (isn't just about everything these days?) by a company called Sifang Medical Corp.
This product is listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG ID 133274), allowing it to be legally supplied and used by healthcare professionals nationwide
Besides the obvious medical use, we actually had this stethoscope (we actually had a couple of them, this one was a "backup" and barely used) in our electronic workshops and it came in handy a few of times. Not one of your "mainstream" tools such as a multimeter or scope but our staff would occasionally use these the acoustic stethoscope as an audio diagnostic tool to pinpoint sources of noise, vibration and impending catastrophic component failure - particularly when working with more "senior" electronic equipment ... e.g listening and pinpointing high voltage arcing points (loved that smell of Ozone!) around HV ladders or CRT and transmitting tube anode circuits.
If it was intended to use this stethoscope for it's design purpose, keep in mind that this is your basic entry level acoustic stethoscope and it does lack some sensitivity that may be required for accurate detection of some conditions such as "murmurs"... you can purchase more sensitive and advanced contemporary stethoscopes but of course your pockets need to be much deeper! This SM0010 represents good value for the money spent.

Although I know this stethoscope is working fine, without any issues, I did give it one last "test" listening to each others heartbeats!

COSMETIC CONDITION:
Like New - I described this unit in such a way because the box was found opened AND there is normally a spare set of ear tips ... this unit has just the one set of ear tips already fitted (easy to obtain replacements and replacing of these ear tips is a snap)
NO damage to the tubing or the metal binauruals
NO damage to the diaphragm at all
Both ear tips have been sterilised
I have now placed the stethoscope within a completely sealed clear plastic packet, placed back into the original box and then sealed the whole box using clear plastic to maintain the current excellent condition.
