HISTORY:

My wife is cleaning out our "overgrown" collection of mainly English chinaware because she has quality chinaware coming out of our ears!

She has collected quite a bit of Wedgwood over the years but does prefer "old" Wedgwood but from time to time our friends hear that she collected such things and this Wedgwood teaset  was gifted to her quite some time ago ... along with some additional "replacements" she had to buy due to accidents etc

She feels an appropriate time has passed since receiving this gift and quite frankly has become "bored" with the plain White (and has others to use anyway!) and she has now decided to find a new, possibly more appreciative, home for these Wedgwood duo's

SPECIAL NOTE: These teacups and saucers have been "grouped" on the basis of the backstamps. Although these are ALL genuine Wedgwood "Candlelight" tablewares, there are very slight variations in the appearances of the backstamps.

Please look at the backstamp for the piece you would like, compare it to the Candlelight you already have and then select that piece in the selection box on this page.

WEDGWOOD - Teacups & Saucers

This advertisement allows the buyer to purchase multiple pieces of  EITHER the saucer or the teacup OR put two pieces together to create a matching duo (in which case, an automatic discount is applied to both pieces)

We have advertised these Candlelight teacups and saucers in such a manner because we frequently are requested to advertise items piece by piece, not whole sets, for replacement purposes. If however purchases are made of multiple items, automatic discounts come into play ...

If an item does not show in the "choose your piece" box, that means ... yes you guessed it ... it has already been purchased and there are none of that item left.

This "Candlelight" teaset duo could be thought of as an everyday teaset but it has that Wedgwood "class" and because of the simplicity of design, they look great, no matter what other tableware is being used. We used these often for ordinary day-to-day tea drinking and yes, sometimes mishaps happen which required us to replace pieces from time to time.

It is for this reason that there are variations in the backstamps on both the saucers and teacups - I have grouped the various differing backstamps together so that anyone who wants these as a replacement or duo can match the backstamps between pieces.

Made in England (NOT offshore such as Asia)

Wedgwood pattern: CANDLELIGHT

Translucent bone china, meaning that when held up to a light source you can easily see the shadow of your fingers through the china.

NOTE: Although bone china, these pieces are noticeably heavier than other bone china that we have, still translucent but heavier.

There is no decoration to either the teacup or it's saucer, plain Jane but these have an air of elegance that easily sets them apart from "other" chinaware.

Both the teacup and saucer use a swirl fluted pattern, not a smooth china.

The colour is a pure, clean, bright White

NO Gold gilding or other decoration has been applied to either piece

DIMENSIONS:

Teacup: 90mm diameter mouth x 70mm height

Standard handle

Saucer: 144mm diameter

WEIGHT:

Teacup: 150g

Saucer: 130g

BACKSTAMP:

As mentioned above, there are variations in the backstamps so I have grouped them together which makes matching teacups and saucers exactly quite easy.

BACKSTAMP DESIGN A

Here is a photograph of the actual item backstamp, not a copy//paste of other images that I have seen others use online!

BACKSTAMP DESIGN B

Here is a photograph of the actual teacup backstamp

Note that the Wedgwood logo on the teacups has completely changed! All other text is identical except for this W used for the logo

BACKSTAMP DESIGN C

Here is a photograph of the actual saucer backstamp

Note with this design that although the text and logo are the same as Backstamp Design A, the word CANDLELIGHT is missing, although it is exactly the same design.

BACKSTAMP DESIGN D

Here is a photograph of the actual saucer backstamp

Note that with this design, the logo larger than that used in Backstamp Design A AND (like design C) the word CANDLELIGHT is missing, again though these are exactly the same as the other Candlelight saucers in design.

Confused? I was ... my wife can only suggest that as she purchased replacements over time, there were small differences over the years with the backstamps used by Wedgwood.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

This section describes ALL pieces in general, any differences to the condition of any note are just below this general description

USED

CLEAN

NO cracks

NO discolouration to either the bright White base china on either piece

NO tannin (tea) stains inside the teacup

NO fleabites

BACKSTAMP DESIGN A

All teacups need no further comment

The saucers however do show some very light useage marks, in the central area there are some light scratches although you need to hold the saucer in just the right light to see these ... they are very light.

BACKSTAMP DESIGN B

Teacup needs no further comment

BACKSTAMP DESIGN C & D

The saucers, like those in Design A, have a small amount of very light useage scratches in the central area. These are very light.

Each piece of Candlelight, the teacup or the saucer is available separately - the more pieces that are purchased, the greater the automatic discount applied to each piece.

Yes, a lot of detail but we like to be accurate in our descriptions to prevent disappointment!

Of course these will be VERY well packed when shipping, those who have dealt with our family before will know just how fastidious we are!

USED Exactly as described
