HISTORY:
My wife is cleaning out our "overgrown" collection of mainly English chinaware because she has quality chinaware coming out of our ears!
She has collected quite a bit of Wedgwood over the years but does prefer "old" Wedgwood and in particular Jasperware. As often happens, this Wedgwood side plate is a "left over" from one of her teasets. At this stage, she has only handed me this side plate - PERHAPS more of the teaset will follow, eventually!
WEDGWOOD - Side Plate ONLY
Made in England (NOT offshore such as Asia)
Wedgwood pattern: KUTANI CRANE
Popular pattern that was produced for approximately 20 years, my wife believes she obtained the teaset back in the 1990's
Translucent bone china, meaning that when held up to a light source you can easily see the shadow of your fingers through the china.
The decoration is transferware and depicts the Japanese region of Kutani, featuring a white bone china base with a detailed, colorful crane (bird) surrounded by bamboo and floral elements
