ARTWORK HISTORY:
Our family is very much into "the Arts" in all it's forms, from music to art to chinaware and even classic old (quality) technology!
Our art collecting focus has always been landscapes, both Australian and New Zealand, and this included not only paintings but special limited collectors plate releases such as the Wedgwood's and other collector plates of interest, most of which have found new caring homes.
This collector's display plate is in a slightly different class in that it not only appeals to those who love to have beautiful flowers on their plates but also those young and older folk who have an active imagination and like to delve into the world of fantasy ... a fascination with those fairies down at the bottom of the garden. This plate captures the moment when you are looking at the flowers and OMG! you can see tiny fairies amongst the blooms!
This plate was (many years ago now) a drawcard for the grandchildren when visiting us, they would make a bee-line to my wife's display cabinets to see all the beautiful chinaware, porcelain and ceramics but always stopped at this plate, looking for the fairies.
Imagine, being down in a secluded part of your flower garden (or even at the botanical gardens) and quietly realising that all these little winged creatures are looking at you - connections between the "real world" and "spiritual world". When the real world seems so harsh and unforgiving, thinking of the fairies "out there" can be a very therapeutic thing. Children know this and some more grown up children know this too ...
This display plate needs a new home, the grandchildren are now "grown up" and no longer visit us very often so we are now focusing on finding new homes for our oil artworks and display plates which must leave the house to live with someone else (just like the children!)
Our beautiful set of Wedgwood display plates left home (boo hoo!) and found a very loving new home to live in so now we have just a few collectors display plates, such as this one, to find new caring homes for. The fairies are lonely (and a lonely fairy is a sad thing to see) and they only wish to bring happiness and wonderment to human folk (they told us!) with a leaning towards the fantasy world.
This plate is not all about being a W.J. George product nor a Limited Edition or even the beautifully painted work of Lena Liu, it is all about the fairies!
W.J. GEORGE (UK) - Collectors Display Plate

The border of the plate is comprised of Fairy wings and if you look very closely at the blooms, Woah! My wife used to have this on a stand (NOT supplied, other pieces needed it) but the wall hanging accessory IS supplied with this plate.
Of course it has the "paperwork" but alas, the original box went a LONG time ago into the bin.
