A.T FINNEY & SONS LTD - Creamer Jug and/or Sugar Bowl

Tradename: Duchess

Made in England

Circa period 1970's ~ 1980's ("Modern" China)

Fine brilliant White Bone China base

Translucent, meaning if held to the light you can easily see your fingers through the china

PATTERN: June Bouquet (Pattern 981) comprising multiple sprays of small rose buds in Pink, Red & White with foliage.

Decoration is transferware not hand decorated

Gold gilding around the top outer scalloped rim, both sides and back of the handle and around the base foot

DIMENSIONS:

Creamer Jug

Make no mistake, this is a small creamer pouring jug which holds just 120mL (4 Ounces in the "old money") - just enough for two folks having a cuppa!

Mouth: 59mm (approximately) diameter

Broad spout which extends 30mm from the jug body

Height: 65mm

Handle is quite a generous size (even my fingers fit it!) in an upturned but not full Queen Anne style

WEIGHT: Just 110g (empty!)

Sugar Bowl (not lidded)

Mouth: 92mm diameter

Height: 55mm

BACKSTAMP DETAILS:

This photograph is taken from this creamer jug, not a facsimile from elsewhere!

This photograph is taken from this sugar bowl, not a facsimile from elsewhere!

There are no Artist nor Gold gilder's marks

COSMETIC CONDITION:

This section of the description applies equally to either item

USED

CLEAN

NO cracks

NO discolouration or wear to the bright White china background or the decorative artwork

NO discolouration to the bright White china INSIDE the creamer jug or the sugar bowl

NO crazing observed (wet & dry tested)

NO fleabites

Creamer Jug: Gold gilding is in very good condition with no signs of handling or washing wear, even around the top rim and the handle - these are often areas that show handling wear.

Sugar bowl: Gold gilding is in very good condition with no signs of handling or washing wear to the top rim however on the lower foot ring there is a very short section (measures approximately 1.3mm length) of the gilding that is missing - it doesn't look like wear but either it left the works in this condition or somehow this very short section of the applied gilding "came away" from the china.

A cute, small creamer jug and sugar bowl set made just for "tea for two"!
