My YAMAHA P200 has been on the "operating table" (workshop) but she couldn't be saved, the dust cover was damaged, platter was missing! and the headshell/cartridge had also gone AWOL. Nothing more could be done for "her" so she has become an "organ donor" in the hope that some of these parts may give new life to another P200
Yes, I am "different" in that I don't just offer a tonearm (here's a tonearm without any further description, let alone offering it in a broken down version)
It's like this ...
I am very "big" on sustainability, re-using or re-purposing equipment (no matter how trivial or old it may be) because a LOT of EE (Embodied Energy) was used to create this module and to throw something like this away, poison our landfill with plastics and a myriad of other man-made substances is just so irresponsible and such a waste of expended energy. Everything we humans have created required energy (and raw materials) for it's creation and often that amount of energy (EE value) is surprisingly high (Aluminium for example). So after using those raw materials and expending considerable energy to create an item, we then throw it away, burying it in the earth! Such terrible wastage.
Let's get down to the description of this tonearm from the P200
YAMAHA Model P200 Turntable (not the Electric Piano which is also called the P200!)
Country of origin: Japan (this is not a Chinese assembled product)
SPARE PART ONLY - NOT THE COMPLETE TURNTABLE
Part(s) offered (as pictured and highlighted in Green):
Complete P200 straight tonearm assembly
Each section of the tonearm has been separated during "the operation" which should help those who just want the lifter or the pivot or the arm itself ... you do not need to disassemble the tonearm yourself!
The sections below are included in this offering:
Pivot assembly with the central bearing
*** Packet of the smallest ball bearings I have ever seen! - see below to understand what this is all about
Skating control with knob
Lifter assembly with the tonearm lock clip
Straight tonearm with all wires intact and undamaged, H-4 bayonet mount for a standard 1/2" headshell
For those who may be considering using just this straight tonearm section, the mass is 14g and the length 187mm using 8mm OD tubing.
NOT included
Counter balance
Headshell assembly
Cartridge
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
ALL components are clean
NO physical damage to any sub-section of the tonearm assembly. The anti-skating fine spring is included, the mounting screws (where applicable e.g the pivot) are included.
Tonearm internal wiring is undamaged, the same applies to the H-4 bayonet male Gold plated pins.
*** What's this about a pack of ball bearings, Russ? (I hear you ask, head to one side and tongue drooping from the left corner of the mouth)
It's like this ... I had a "senior moment" and forgot that the central tonearm shaft has a ball bearing system incorporated. This is where the wires leave the tonearm and go off to the audio interconnect PCB. I unscrewed the shaft nut, not thinking twice, when suddenly I had the tiniest ball bearings I have ever seen running all over the workbench surface! Yikes ...
These are steel so by using a magnet I was able to recover what I "think" was all of them, I can barely see these things (how do they manufacture such small ball bearings?) I have now placed the ball bearings that my trusty magnet managed to find into a sealed clear plastic packet - you may be able to see these balls in the last photograph.
Each section of the tonearm assembly has been packed into sealed clear plastic packs and then all packed together - I will not separate these. The complete pack is sitting on a stiff cardboard backing and this is also sealed in clear plastic to protect the whole assembly.
