HISTORY:

My wife "collects" but is changing which type of china/porcelain she wants (now pre-1900's) and she has come to realise that many of our treasured items need to "leave home" to find a new, caring home to live in.

DLAT RATING: 9/10 (Darling Look At This!)

Dainty, delicate, 'pleasing to the eye' and of course, it's Royal Albert!

This advertisement is for the Side Plate ONLY - it's a sad story but well, accidents happen and the teacup with saucer have gone ... "departed this world!"

ROYAL ALBERT - Side Plate

Made in England (Although just the word England is used on the backstamp, apparently this piece and others like it were still produced at Longton, Stoke-On-Trent with production finally moving offshore after around 2002, those pieces do not have England in the backstamp.

Circa Late 1970's ***

*** This design apparently was produced through the period 1950's to 1970's but my wife declares that she originally purchased this Sugar Candy teaset trio back in the early 1970's, not 20 years earlier.

Fine Bone China

Pattern: Sugar Candy

It does appear that this decoration was hand applied as when viewed extremely closely, I cannot see any signs of "dot transferware" at all, just solid brush like strokes although there are no decorator or guilders marks at all on the underside.

Background colouring is of course a Candy Pink banding with an inner brilliant White centre area. The central motif is decorated using light Grey painted foliage structure and Gold gilded leaves. The design is finished with two Gold gilded rings, one being around the central White area and the other on the plate outer rim.

Translucent (you can easily see the shadow of your fingers through the china when held up to a strong light source)

BACKSTAMP DETAILS:

Makers mark printed on the base of the side plate (under the glaze)

DIMENSIONS:

160mm diameter

CONDITION:

CLEAN

NO cracks

NO chips

NO crazing

NO discolouration observed to the brilliant White base porcelain, nor the Candy Pink banding.

NO observable wear to the Gold gilding around the outer rim or around the White central area.

However, this side plate is not perfect ... it has been used in the past and upon very close inspection (with a magnifying glass) I can see some very small flaws in the central decorative area due to normal wear n tear.

USED Exactly as described
