Elvis in his younger days, singing Gospel music
ELVIS PRESLEY - Sings How Great Thou Art
Elektra Records
Cat# 20440
Matrix coding (stamped):
Side A: UPKB 0291* A1.A1
Side B: UPKB 0292* A1A1
1967 (Original EP release, not the reissue)
NOTES: Referencing Discogs, this cover is not quite "right" but the release is definitely the 1967 first pressing. Black & Silver labels, matrix coding support this (although this matrix coding is stamped not etched) but the front cover has the catalogue number over on the left side AND the rear cover has no Red/Pink RCA logo printed below the catalogue number and in fact it looks identical to rear of the 1978 release, but the front does not match up with the 1978 release, completely besides the record label colouring being the 1967 release. For some, these things matter, for others it is all about the music (Me!)
Australian release
Cover is in good (minus) condition, this means that while there are no seam splits, no personal writing and only very light edgewear from normal handling, the cover has suffered mildew or possibly foxing damage over the years. The cover has been sterilised and cleaned but the obvious light Brown spots remain - no smells!
New inner plastic sleeve
Fortunately the vinyl has been properly stored within a plastic sleeve, saving it from a fate similar to the cover. Vinyl is in very good condition, visually inspected under a bright White halogen light source and I can see NO marks or scratches on either side - very clean copy. Just looking at the vinyl is not a good way to judge the condition so I played the ENTIRE release, both sides, and there are NO issues with surface noise nor clicks n pops at all - very nice play of early Elvis songs!
