Remember these? Go back in time ... way way back to the 1990's
They are about the size of a 12" vinyl record but provide video and high quality audio (analog and digital) and were very popular in the entertainment industry, particularly in Asia but also many motion pictures can be found on laser disc's
This laser disc is in the karaoke genre which is very popular in Asian countries as a form of entertainment. This particular laser disc was part of a collection used in The Philippines in the entertainment industry. Filipino's love life, dance and music ... when the opportunity arises to hold a microphone in their hand and let rip their version of a song at a karaoke bar, it's all on for young and old ... fun, socialising and just having a great time ... karaoke does that. I have personally heard the most dreadful renditions of popular songs but hey! who cares, it's all about having a laugh and escaping the hum-drum of everyday life.
Although laser disc's have been superseded by more contemporary technology, this disc represents a "by-gone" era and, amazingly, there are some diehards who still use laser disc's - more power to them! I had a JVC machine a long while back but no longer ... this disc is offered "unplayed" but carefully cleaned and inspected.
MEGA DISCS KARAOKE - Pop Top Hits (Autumn Of Canada)
Manufactured in Taiwan
Publisher: Entertainment Network International
12" Laser Disc
Catalogue: MDK-809
Released 1994
Cover is in very good condition, clean and without any significant seam splits (there is one very short split on the lower edge), no tears and no personal writing.
New inner plastic liner sleeve for the disc - this important, these laser disc's could be thought of as a giant CD or DVD and that reflective layer needs to be looked after.
Media is in good condition, visually inspected under bright sunlight (the best to view these) and I can see some very light scratches from handling but nothing serious at all. Unfortunately I am presently unable to "test play" the laser disc as my player has no since gone to a new home - offered untested but I have no doubt it will perform as it should.
I have also been made aware of the "rot" issue which is sometimes encountered with these discs. I have carefully examined the disc on both sides and cannot see the tell-tale "pin prick" holes so I believe all is well, of course I would love to have played this disc but I no longer have the equipment here.

Analog tracks contain complete versions of the songs with guide vocals for practice. Digital tracks contain only background vocals and music. English lyrics appear on the screen for karaoke sing-along. It is impossible to say for certain where the disc was made due to a total lack of mint markings. However, my best guess would be Kuraray. The width of the inner blank area is the same, and there is a narrow ring which resembles the one normally seen on Kuraray products.
