These terminal posts have been removed from a bread boarding unit, originally used for the + & - rails plus common.
Why "part out" such components?
I am very much "into" sustainability, a manufactured component (no matter how small) represents an appreciable amount of embedded energy and to waste that embedded energy is a very bad thing, even worse is to bury it in landfill and subsequently poison our environment!
What is embedded energy?
Embedded energy is a measurement of the total energy that was used to create a component, a module or a complete piece of equipment originally and should include all processes used in the manufacture of the item, from obtaining the raw materials, processing them, making the product and then shipping to another manufacturer in the "chain" or being supplied directly to stores as a finished product for retail sale.
UNBRANDED - Binding Terminal Post
Country of origin is unknown (although most likely these are Chinese origin)
Type: Insulated from the mounting panel BUT the user needs to devise a method of securing these to the panel
Colour: Black or Red or Green
In the interests of maximum flexibility (at the request of folks looking at these things on my website), the Red, Black or the Green terminal posts are ALL purchasable individually, meaning that if you just want one terminal post you are not forced to purchase any extra posts.
Materials: Thermoplastic with Nickel plated contact areas and designed for use with a rear solder tag "eye", this tag is supplied with the Black and Red posts but NOT the Green post (readily available from many sources)
DIMENSIONS:
Octagonal shaped top section, easy to grip with the fingers. Inside this section is a standard banana socket. The lower thermoplastic section is the part which mounts onto the board or panel being used. This section does have a small flange but some means of holding the terminal post in place would need to be devised.
The main shaft which runs from the top banana socket to the rear does have a small hole accessible for hard wiring to this post.
The rear section comprises a large washer, 2x nuts and an eye solder tag (with the exception of the Green post which has no eye solder tag)
Some dimensions ...
Top plastic section 20mm length x 12.6mm OD
Lower plastic section 13mm length x 12.6mm OD - this means your mounting hole needs to be just slightly larger than 12.6mm but not too large as the flange on this section is quite small (14mm OD)
The hole in the shaft for hard wiring is 1mm OD
The top section cannot "fall off" as it has a stop when it reaches the end of the thread
The section which protrudes when mounted on a panel is 5mm height, making the total terminal post height 25mm off the panel (terminal post fully closed)
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
Clean
NO thread damage (free, smooth movement across the entire length) to both the upper section or the lower section
NO physical damage to the top or lower sections of the thermoplastic body
All metal contact areas (banana socket, hole for hard wiring & the rear eye solder tag) are in good condition and very serviceable
Each terminal post has been individually packed into clear, sealed plastic packets so that the current condition is maintained.
