ARTWORK HISTORY:

Our family is very much into "the Arts" in all it's forms, from music to creative art to chinaware and even classic old (quality) technology!

Our artworks focus has always been 'landscapes', both Australian and New Zealand but over the years we have gathered far too many and new, caring homes must be found for our "excess" artworks.

Back in the 1980's we purchased this artwork while travelling around rural NSW. We have no idea though of exactly where the artist sat and painted this scene, unfortunate.

The principal feature which caught our eye when we saw this artwork ...the use of colours. Such a nice peaceful ending to a day, or as we first thought, the beginning! The scene isn't spectacular, a lot of bush which looks to be quite mature and in fact we have always wondered if it had been ravaged by a bushfire as the artist has used almost exclusively Browns for the landscape but it does contrast very nicely with those Yellows of the sun sinking down in the West.

This is an original oil on board and has always hung amongst our favourites but the time has come ... we have a number of LARGE artworks and there just isn't enough wall space to do them all justice especially since at our age, our focus now tends to be on family or rather the extended family so a lot of family history photographs are taking the place of the hanging artwork.

This artwork must now find a new home ...

We have no idea who B. MacFarlane is but would assume this is the work of a non-professional artist. That is not to mean it is sub-par in standard, the quality of work is actually very good! For us it is not about the name or person who created the artwork but how they have interpreted and portrayed the scene they are painting - for us, this artwork 'ticked the boxes'

B. MACFARLANE - Golden Sunset

Circa 1986 - yes, the artist did date their work on the rear of the frame.

Original Oil on board

Very nice choice of frame. moulded wood with a metallic Gold finish, this nicely compliments the colours used in the artwork.

This artwork is of MEDIUM WEIGHT and SIZE

I have been amazed at the number of people who received our other artworks and express surprise about how small or large it is - please do your homework and MAKE SURE it will suit the wall area and room size you have in mind!

This artwork is ROUGHLY the size of an A4 sheet, the frame of course extending this around all sides.

Take a piece of standard A4 paper, orientate it in landscape format (sideways) and then "see what it looks like" in various places on your wall, keeping in mind the likely viewing distance, room lighting etc

Don't forget, you will need plenty of wall space with good natural lighting (NOT direct sunlight though) and if possible, a controlled environment such as air-conditioning to keep the humidity and ambient air temperature constant.

Artwork measurements: 240mm wide x 195mm high
