HISTORY:

Another vintage "curio" from one of my many "Geez that's ancient stuff" boxes

This connector dates back, way back, I would estimate it was used with one of the old Japanese audio machines we had a long time ago - most like something like a wired remote for a Tascam or Otari equipment, I just can't remember and I didn't make a note at the time when I removed this connector from the cable.

SMK (Japan) - Multi-way Connector

Made in Japan

Part number: unknown and not marked on the shell

Material: All Khaki Green plastic shell with what feels like a flexible vinyl (I don't believe it is rubber) boot.

Connector Gender: Male

The connector is CAPABLE of having 26 pins fitted, arranged in a 7-6-7-6 matrix of 4 rows

This connector has only some of the pins fitted, 13 of them. The pin numbering is stamped into the rear of the connector, the pins fitted are pins 26,25,24,21,20,17,15,14,5,4,3,2,1

These look to be pins with "sprung wings" which may mean they could be difficult to move positions.

DIMENSIONS:

46.8mm front-back x 23.8mm wide x 21mm height

Cable entry via the boot allows for cables up to 8mm OD to be used

COSMETIC CONDITION

USED

Reasonably Clean!

The pins, although clean, look a bit on the dull side and may need a good clean up. They appear to be nickel plated, not Silver and definitely not Gold.

NO damage to the shell components, boot or the pins

SPECIAL NOTE:

I examined and "stressed" the plastic shell, particularly the side clips, beside old plastic can become brittle. Not the case with this shell, and I did stress those clips quite a bit - they hold the two shell halves together VERY firmly and moving the clip from the lock position needs to be done carefully but with quite a bit of force. No signs of stressing occurred (often the plastic will change colour where it is becoming stressed) This is one tough plastic that SMK used!

Each connector is now stored in the "broken down" condition, ready to wire up and click fit together (not difficult to do)

Stored and supplied in a sealed clear plastic packet

USED Exactly as described
