BACKGROUND

Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that remains serviceable) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.

Actually Aluminium is right up the top of the list when it comes to energy used to create the finished product ... so we dig up the raw materials, process them, create machines with them and then when the equipment is no longer considered useful (and this depends upon your perspective), we bury it at the rubbish dump ... humans are more intelligent than that! Or are we?

Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.

If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE

To many, this is just a collection of Aluminium gears, pulleys etc - 1.2Kg of Aluminium actually. But for those with enquiring minds, these items MAY present some opportunities for experimentation in their latest or intended future "project"

That was exactly my intention but I have come to realise that I already have way too many "balls in the air" and I am just not going to go ahead with the project I had in mind - robotics. I am now hoping that someone else can find a use for some of these items.

ALL items are offered as one pack, I do not intend to ship just "this or that"

Each item has been individually packed in clear plastic to protect it from dust and the environment - particularly the bearings.

These are the mechanical motion components removed from a USA designed and manufactured stage lighting moving head ... yes, quite an old model using colour wheels, pattern discs and incandescent spot lights!

1.2Kg of mostly machined Aluminium product

Most items have no part number or identifying marks but some do, particularly the bearings

The first photograph is of the whole family of items, with subsequent photographs showing more detail of specific components ...

I have not gone into great detail about each item in this pack, just some of the basic information which I hope will assist in determining if this part or that part could be of interest to you but don't forget, they travel as a "family" and I will not offer them "piece meal"

Here is a little closer look at various groupings of the items ... a small photograph accompanies this information and a larger photograph is on this page which you can zoom into

Grouping A

Small machined Aluminium gears, pulleys etc ... most shafts are 4.85mm ID with a couple measuring 6.25mm ID ... Outer diameters - smallest is 12mm OD and the largest 30mm OD

Grouping B

Large machined Aluminium gear with bearing, outer measurement is 73mm OD (body excluding the gear teeth) and the central shaft hole is 23.5mm ID

Grouping C

Two large machined Aluminium items with a fixed centre hole (no bearing), one measures 14.4mm ID & the other 15.5mm ID

Grouping D

The majority of these gears have bearings and with teeth. The two with Black teeth appear to be a nylon material. The two large Aluminium discs with central bearings measure 24.5mm ID shaft holes and diameters for these items range from 47mm OD to 80mm OD overall

GENERAL OBSERVATIONS

All items use hex grub screws (these have been left intact) for securing the item to shafts etc

The only plastic parts are those two gears which appear to be a nylon material

Inspected all the teeth and no stripping was observed.

All bearings (ball bearings?) move freely and have not "seized"

The entire family (as shown in photograph #1) is now packed into a single, heavy duty clear plastic packet ready for shipping - this would be sent via Australia Post, using the small satchel option (this provides the lowest shipping cost around Australia)

USED Exactly as described
