BACKGROUND:
PYE were originally a British company, their products were aimed at the professional broadcast market and they were a well established "name" in that industry until around the mid 1980's when the company was "divested" with Philips picking up a number of their products but for the consumer, products were then produced in the PYE "name only", being manufactured in Taiwan i.e made to a consumer "price point"
HERE is a great wealth of information about PYE UK, the birth of the company and their progression through the years, with a number of interesting articles and photographs.
These large diameter concentric knobs are from the CD60 cassette machine, used for the input level control of each channel but due to the general fitting of these knobs (16mm fluted) they could well be used in a myriad of other vintage audio equipment.
UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER - Concentric Knobs (Set Of Two)
Country of origin (most likely): Taiwan
Material: Hybrid construction with a solid Aluminium outer shell and a nylon insert for the shaft fittings.
This is NOT one of those horrible "spray on metal" fake/pseudo "metal" knobs used by many Asian manufacturers in this time period.
There is no manufacturing trade names or other markings on either knob, which is good when fitted into other equipment.
Both knobs have recessed grooves which act as "pointers", these have not been infilled with paint.
Nice knurled finish around the sides, feels good to grip!
Standard 16mm fluted shaft potentiometer fitting for the upper most knob and a "double D" shape for the lower knob (see the photograph of the original control pot shaft)
DIMENSIONS:
Upper Knob: 39.35mm diameter x 8.7mm thickness
Lower Knob: 39.6mm diameter (very slightly larger diameter than the upper knob) x 12.55mm thickness
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
Clean
NO significant marks or scratching to either knob component, very good condition
Shiny, attractive finish to the Aluminium
Nylon fitting on the underside is secure and not cracked or damaged in any way (both knobs)
I have now packed these into separate clear plastic sealed packets, ready to venture into the outside world ...
