BACKGROUND
More of my wife's glassware has been handed to me ... besides her passion for fine china and porcelain, she adores "special glass" creations. This vase is one of those and she has now decided it was time to be "shown the door" as her colour tastes have changed a little over time.
This vase is hand blown Amber art glass. Meaning there are no seams visible and in fact if you look carefully INSIDE right down at the base you can see what is left of the punt mark, a small circular depression which would have been more visible on the underside if it wasn't for the grinder which has been used on the base, underside, to achieve a flat bottom for the vase, probably using a flatbed grinder.
While looking at this vase in detail, I noticed how the light is reflected differently around the base. To the naked eye the whole vase appears Amber in colour but in daylight the base is much lighter in colour, almost clear.
There are NO obvious "air bubbles in the glass" although in certain light I imagined I could see "something" within the glass - if there are bubbles, they are very small.
The overall "roundedness" of all edges is really quite something, no sharp angles at all.
Once held in the hand(s) one thing is very obvious, this is no lightweight! When this vase is picked up this weight is immediately obvious (almost 2Kg) and the glass "walls" are estimated to be 12mm thickness - a little hard to accurately measure with the smooth rounded edges of the vase design.
Perfect shape for a "flower spray" (my wife says), she used it occasionally for that purpose, medium length stems are fine, not really suitable for naturally long stemmed flowers such as gladiolas.

I have examined all over the vase and there are no stampings or other markings which could have identified the maker.
Stands 8" 203mm height
Broad mouth 7" (180mm) wide around the rim which narrows down to 3" (75mm) in the centre, creating plenty of space for a multitude of beautiful flower stems to be placed.

Clean - sterilised (Iso Alcohol spray then dried)
NO mould or other glass staining at all
NO cracks
NO chips or sliver damage to the glass, particularly around the top rim
Amber colouring is consistent across the whole vase and really comes into it's own when it is exposed to normal daylight (say through a window) - it almost takes on an almost 'glowing' appearance.
Yes, of course we will skillfully and extremely carefully pack this glassware for safe shipping - with insurance, at the buyers expense - we have been doing a lot of this lately, sending delicate items to far flung places of the earth! No mishaps!
