BACKGROUND:
Another "fun" item that has been handed to me by my wife, a glass butter knife, Yes ... glass!
She barely ever used it, probably more of a "show pony" than anything else but unusual at least
UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER - Glass Knife
Intended purpose: butter knife
All edges are bevelled, not sharp and without serrations.
No patterns or etching on any part of the knife
Balanced design, meaning that if the knife is rested on a finger where the handle meets the blade, it sits level and does not droop to one side or the other.
DIMENSIONS:
133mm length
9.2mm wide x 5mm thickness handle which is 65mm in length
14mm wide (widest point) x 4.2mm thickness blade which is 68mm in length
WEIGHT: 14g
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED (Barely)
Clean
Of course there are no chips or cracks in the glass!
NO scratching to the handle or blade observed HOWEVER there is a line which I can see in the blade, is it a scratch or some sort of manufacturing flaw? I just don't know ... it is very "light" and seems to be actually within the glass, not on the surface.
HANDLING & WASHING:
Of course this knife should be handled carefully but although it is glass, it feels "hardened" - just handle with care, like you would with any other glass object.
I am told this was only washed a couple of times and always in warm soapy water, not the harsh environment of a dish washer. Probably best not to use the latter
I have now packed this glass butter knife within a sealed clear plastic packet and then on a stiff cardboard backing board, surrounded by bubblewrap, to ensure it does not get damaged when being shipped.
