Another miscellaneous cable from the data rack, the venerable RS232 Serial comms cable. Once widely in use but not so much these days but very handy if you happen to working with old IT gear which "talks" to the outside world using serial communications, specifically RS232 standards.
This is a cross-over or "null modem" cable, not a straight-thru type, meaning that the TX pin is directly connected to the RX pin of the opposite connector. I have checked all the connections at each end and also can confirm that the CTS pin is directly connected to the CTR pin at the opposite connector. All other pins are not connected together or to any pin at the other end of the cable.
