CD case and the rear inlay are in very good condition, the inside of the front cover does have some light "foxing" - brown mildew spots. No personal writing anywhere.
CD media is in good (minus) condition, visually inspected under a white halogen light source and I can see just one single "dot" on the media, no scratching or other marks. Just looking at the disc can be deceptive so I then played the ENTIRE release, every track, and there is one issue ... an important one!
That dot which was observed is actually a "hole" in the reflective layer (NOT the CD substrate), located just below the O in the CD face printed text "DIVISION". Not good because without the laser refecting back from the CD surface, trouble is bound to occur and it does. Here is what happens ...
TOC reads fine ...
Tracks 1 ~ 7 all play great AND tracks 9 ~ 17 also play great, without any issues. However track 8 (Dead Souls) is affected (this is where the reflective layer is missing) - Track 8 begins playing fine, then at the 00:18 time mark, suddenly either jumps backwards to the end of Track 7 OR skips within Track 8 to around the time 00:35, so a chunk of Dead Souls has died! Either just skip over track 8, program it out of the playback sequence but Track 8 cannot play correctly with that hole in the reflective layer. It may be possible to "add" something highly reflective to the UPPER SIDE of the CD so that the laser light gets reflected back to the pickup but ... probably best to just accept the release as a great example of Joy Division MINUS one track.
