This duo (teacup & saucer) is offered as two separate pieces, although an automatic discount applies when purchasing them both, my wife has handed me this duo but no side plate.
For the greatest amount of flexibility I am offering these "piece by piece" in case you just need a replacement piece and not both of the pieces.
Price indicated is for EACH PIECE, however if both pieces are selected then an automatic discount does apply in the checkout
DLAT Rating: 9/10 (Darling Look At This!)
Traditional flower pattern composed of blood Red & Virgin White (with a dash of Pink) rose blooms with extensive Gold chintz applied in a band near the top rim and lower down near the foot of the teacup or in the central area of the saucer, the body of the pieces is pure White.
COLCLOUGH - Teacup & Saucer (Offered separately or as a duo if both pieces still remain available)
Circa 1955 ~ 1964
During this period, the parent company was Ridgway Potteries and this is confirmed by the backstamp
Made In England
Price indicated is for EACH PIECE, however if both pieces were purchased to create a duo (select in the little rectangular boxes) then an automatic discount is applied in the checkout
Fine Bone China
Pattern: 8249 (indicated on the teacup but not the saucer)
Translucent, which means if held up to a strong light you can easily see the shadow of your fingers through the china
The 60's ~ 70's years were a transitional period for decoration of china, many English potteries moving to the more cost effective transferware decoration.
I have examined this artwork very closely and the decoration appears to be of a 'hybrid' nature, while there are definitely the 'dots' from transfer decoration, some areas also appear to be hand applied e.g the blood Red petals and the infill's of the foliage (a Vanilla like colour) and in some areas there are what look to be very small "woopsies" where the application of the colouring has not stayed within the object outlines.
Background colour is a pure White
Gold gilding has been applied in two bands on each piece, using a Chintz patterning plus the usual back and both sides of the teacup handle. While there is no artist's marks, the Gold gilder has marked the teacup underside.
Shape: The teacup has a slight ballooning to the side while the saucer is quite standard although perhaps a little "deeper" than other saucers I have viewed recently.
BACKSTAMP DETAILS:
Makers mark printed on the base of the teacup (under the glaze)
Makers mark printed on the base of the saucer (under the glaze)
Note the lack of any artist marks on the backstamps, although the teacup does have the gilder's monika
DIMENSIONS:
TEACUP: 85mm mouth x 70mm height
SAUCER: 140mm diameter
