An interesting Australian release about which there is not a lot of information in the usual "sources" so I have pieced together bits and pieces.

It would appear that this release was part of a benefit fund raising efforts after the 1989 Newcastle earthquake which killed 13 people and injured hundreds of others.

The composer of the music (Davood A. Tabrizi) is a very accomplished composer and artist originally from Iran and he tends to work creating music for film. Jenny Morris and Tim Finn have very short singing "parts", some of this release is in Persian language (Iranian?), some in English and yet other parts in Filipino - I was surprised at the latter but a guest at the house heard me playing this release and told me that around 5 lines of the lyrics are in Tagalog (Filipino national language) and the singer is Lilian de los Reyes (not quite the text used on the front cover!) - an Australian-Filipino singer who goes "way back" Apparently, on this release she is singing about the suffering that resulted from the earthquake.

The other singers are (in Iran at least) well known Persian singers and performers, these being Sattar, Leyla Frohar, Ebi and Andre Danik.

The musicians were the Sydney Chamber Orchestra, the Sydney Youth Orchestra and the Sydney Ballet Orchestra with additional keyboard and piano from Hovik Markarian.

Don't be put off by the multi-lingual lyrics or the classical style of music (which is actually very stirring!), this release is an interesting listen!

Australian release

Cover is in good condition, no tears, no personal writing on the cover however there is two small spots of graphic damage on the front due to removal of a retail sticker that also lifted off some of the jet Black background!

Note the various signatures on the rear, most of which I cannot attribute to any particular artist EXCEPT that of Lilian de los Reyes! Her autograph is easily readable.

New inner plastic sleeve

Vinyl is in very good condition, visually inspected under a bright White halogen light source and I can only see a couple of light marks or scratches on either side. Just looking at the vinyl doesn't let you see any "little nasties" living in the grooves so I have played the ENTIRE release, both sides. On playback (initially) I did notice quite a bit of "gunk" in the grooves which the stylus kept picking up - a couple of thorough cleans later with the VPI and all is very nice now. There are NO issues with surface noise nor clicks n pops at all

New outer protective sleeve

These are both "epic" tracks, run time for each is around 12 minutes!

There is a Youtube audio/video clip of this song but it is marked as Age Restricted and I cannot show it here - go to Davood Tabrizi - Earthquake
