HISTORY:
We are cleaning out our "overgrown" collection of English (mainly) chinaware because we have quality chinaware coming out of our ears! Some pieces/collections have been kept but others must find new homes to accommodate our latest passion - fine, artistic chinaware and porcelain figurines (hand painted of course)
This is one item (actually three of them) that were once part of our "everyday" dining table use - the famous Blue Willow design. This design began to be used many many years ago but these items are from the "modern era", around the 1990's and are of course Microwave and Dishwasher safe (unlike the earlier Blue Willows from other makers such as Johnson Bros)
To offer the utmost flexibility, pieces are being offered individually because from experience, often only one piece is needed and usually not a complete set for example.
Originally this pattern was of of Chinese origin, then many works (Johnson Brothers for example) produced their own local UK product, as time went on, the popularity of the design continued so that even in relatively contemporary times (30+ years ago now!) Blue Willow was still being produced, notably by Churchill.
The older "Blue Willows" remain extremely collectable, even back many years ago Queen Mary II began collecting the Chinese patterned chinaware, putting these into her custom made "china cabinet"
One of the most recognisable designs in old English dinnerwares and in its day, very common to see especially in the "better" hotels of Britain.
We wouldn't described these pieces as being "extremely collectable" but very useful as a replacement for your own "Willow" tablewares.

HOWEVER ... as it often the case with used earthernware or china products, there are a couple of very small, non-discoloured (meaning no bacteria is living under the glaze) fleabites on the underside. These are very small and quite indistinct, but they do exist! These come about from handling and there are no such fleabites "topside" at all
