UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER - Cake Serving Knife ONLY

Made in England

Circa 1950's ~ 70's

Hand decorated

Opaque, meaning that if held to the light you cannot see the shadow of your fingers through the ceramic

Size: 230mm length x 80mm widest point x 6.5mm thick

The front "slice" section is 130mm whereas the handle is only 70mm in length

Quite heavy but well balanced

Weight: 150g

A substantial cake serving knife featuring hand painted roses on the topside only, otherwise the base colouring is a White. Finished with Gold gilding around the sides.

The dating of this knife has been based principally upon the artist and gilder's marks to the underside of the knife, along with a simple printed Black print (under the glaze) MADE IN ENGLAND but no works backstamp is showing.

UNDERSIDE MARKINGS:

This is the underside of the knife

The two worker's marks are clearly showing

COSMETIC CONDITION:

USED

NO cracks

NO chips

NO signs of glazing breakdown (Dry and Wet)

NO discolouration to the artwork

NO discolouration to the base White (not a bright White but neither is it a Creamy White)

NO wear can be observed to the hand crafted artwork, nor the Gold gilding

On the underside of the knife (the "slice holding area") there appears to be a small fleabite, not discoloured but there none-the-less.

USED Exactly as described
