These Nippon Chemical electrolytics have been extracted from working equipment (underwent "the operation" due to mechanical switching failures on the audio amplifier) and tested as fine for general use i.e linear power supplies.
Nippon Chemical have a very good reputation for reliability over time and these caps look to be unholding that reputation, based on the test results.
It is IMPORTANT to read my information page about both new AND old stock electrolytic capacitors ... please go HERE
NIPPON CHEMICAL Electrolytic Capacitor(s)
Designed & manufactured in Japan
CE (NM) Series
Two Values are available
4700uF 50V
5600uF 45V
Snap In solder terminals
DIMENSIONS:
4700uF 50V
25.6mm OD x 51.5mm height
5600uF 45V
30.5mm OD x 40.75mm height
COSMETIC CONDITION & TESTING:
USED
Clean
NO body damage, leakage etc ... you may notice the Brown stain on the side of the capacitor...this is remanents of the equipment manufacturer glue which was used to tightly secure the capacitor on the PCB.
These are "snap in" terminations and these look to remain serviceable for mounting still.
Solder terminations are relatively clean and free of "solder dags" etc
Of course ANY old capacitor that has seen any sort of service must be tested ...
4700uF 50V (there are two of these, each has been tested)
#1
Capacitance reading: 4593uF
ESR 0.81
Vloss 2.5%
#2
Capacitance reading: 4640uF
ESR 0.86
Vloss 1.9%
5600uF 45V (there are two of these, each has been tested)
#1
Capacitance reading: 5540uF
ESR 1.5
Vloss 1.6%
#2
Capacitance reading: 5380uF
ESR 1.7
Vloss 1.6%
While C tolerance is usually around 20%, these values fall within acceptable tolerance variations and the dielectric and leakage test results look fine for general use.
Save a classic Japanese electro from landfill! A few nice cap's for your next low voltage custom power supply!
