Back to cleaning up my previous audio post production workshop spare parts. I closed the business and "retired" from the game quite some time ago and I am ever so slowly working through the bits and pieces that need to find new workshops to "live in"
I am very much "into" sustainability, a manufactured component represents a LOT of embedded energy and to waste that embedded energy is not very smart, even worse is to bury it in landfill and subsequently poison our environment!
What is embedded energy?
Embedded energy is a measurement of the total energy that was used to create a component, a module or a complete piece of equipment - the obtaining of raw materials, processing, forming into the component and even the costs involved in shipping to either another manufacturer to create a product or to a retailer for final sale.
What on earth is a "friction foot"? I hear you ask, head cocked to one side with one eye closed ...
Basically these are hard plastic discs, one side is flat and the other rough (intentionally manufactured in this manner, not a stick on pad) - a little like a velcrose finish. Centre hole for mounting the foot and supplied with the wood screws we used to use with these. Most often we attached these to auxilliary audio equipment that was being used "on the road". This equipment was housed in wood based protective cabinets, things like the Wireless Microphone Receivers, Effects units etc
Often this type of equipment sits on top of things like the amp head, bins etc - these often have a synthetic cloth-like covering and when these feet sit on top of this material, it "grabs" and prevents the gear sliding around.

Centre hole is 3mm diameter one side and 7.5mm the other - it is wider due to being countersunk to allow for the screw or bolt head.
