My YAMAHA P200 has been on the "operating table" (workshop) but she couldn't be saved, the dust cover was damaged, platter was missing! and the headshell/cartridge had also gone AWOL. Nothing more could be done for "her" so she has become an "organ donor" in the hope that some of these parts may give new life to another P200
It's like this ...
I am very "big" on sustainability, re-using or re-purposing equipment (no matter how trivial or old it may be) because a LOT of EE (Embodied Energy) was used to create this module and to throw something like this away, poison our landfill with plastics and a myriad of other manmade substances is just so irresponsible and such a waste of expended energy. Everything we humans have created required energy (and raw materials) for it's creation and often that amount of energy (EE value) is surprisingly high (Aluminium for example). So after using those raw materials and expending considerable energy to create an item, we then throw it away, burying it in the earth! Such terrible wastage.
Let's get down to the description of this component from the P200
YAMAHA Model P200 Turntable (not the Electric Piano!)
Country of origin: Japan (this is not a Chinese assembled product)
SPARE PART ONLY - NOT THE COMPLETE TURNTABLE
Part(s) offered (as pictured and highlighted in Green):
Front panel button "Speed Select" (Front Left Hand location)
Only the button is provided, none of the speed switching components
Plastic construction with a Silver "metallised finish" with the text printed on the top of the plastic, not infilled. While this is not as hardy as infilled text, the current condition remains very good.
No additional hardware is supplied
DIMENSIONS:
29.6mm x 15.5mm x 20.75mm Deep (2x long fingers)
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
Clean
I can see a couple of extremely light scratches to the Left hand side, in my view these are insignificant.
NO physical damage to the body of the button HOWEVER ... while inspecting and measuring this button I noticed that one of the side "guides" is missing! There are normally two of these placed at diagonal corners but one is missing. These serve to stabilise the button within the front panel cut-out and while it is indeed missing, I do not believe this will significantly affect the operation or stability of the knob when fitted into the front panel.
NO other issues observed with this button.
I have now placed this button onto a small piece of styrofoam and sealed within clear plastic to maintain the current condition while it waits to breath life into another P200!
