Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

NO REMOTE CONTROL CAN BE FOUND!

SAMSUNG Blu Ray

Model BD-P1400

Plays full HD 1080i

Auto displays the disc type being played and menus etc

Absolutely nothing wrong with it EXCEPT for the damn remote. I have lots of other remotes from my audio production days but none of them will control this player - not even my old universal remotes would talk to it.

Now 'most' of the time this isnt a problem for simple playing of discs although some Blu Rays in particular will not start playing unless the remote is used - the movie Australia is one that just sits there even when the play button is pushed on the front panel.

Most of our discs are DVD movies anyway, they work fine - once the movie main menu comes up, push play on the front panel and away it goes.

On the unit the controls are very sparse - just ON-STANDBY, OPEN/CLOSE, PLAY-PAUSE/BACK/FORWARD/STOP 4 way button - nothing else.

We looked at a replacement remote but these were not worth the money in our opinion so we just used the Toshiba instead (remotes online vary from $18 for a Chinese knockoff to $45 for a genuine Samsung)

Its possible a more modern universal remote would do the trick too - our universal is pretty old.

I double checked the player before placing this advertisement and of course you can see it running if you wish....I checked normal audio CD's, DVD movies and Blu Ray (up to the main menu but couldn't proceed further to play the movie - this is for Blu Ray ONLY - of course DVD's played fine)

The only thing to note about these Blu Ray players is they are so damn slow to load and "do things" - our Toshiba is the same. Especially with Blu Ray discs, you wait and wait for the player to do its stuff - but in the end, it does perform as it should.

Having no remote is a big down-side so its being offered at a low price - its not a dud or faulty in any way, just no remote.

Nice selection of outputs (all connectors gold plated) - 5.1 Channel, 2 Channel, Optical and Coaxial SPDIF, SVideo, Component Video, HDMI and a network cable socket but we never used the network (standard network cable connection) with this player.

We did use the HDMI for maximum video resolution but the standard Yellow-Red-White analog outputs also works fine

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Very clean and almost like new EXCEPT something was put on top and when removed, it left a light mark on the top/lid area - you can see it in the photograph

Used item, as described This item is not returnable
