Telecom Home Telephone

Grey

Hearing Aid amplifier built in

Model 8322

This is a modified 800 series, clear plastic finger stop on the dial.

Circa 1970's

Rotary dial for pulse signalling (decadic pulses)

Volume control on the front left

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Very clean, a couple of minor scratches but no case cracks - pretty good after 40+ years in service

Curly cord to the handset is a bit sloppy these days, happens when you get old - things go saggy

Internally, stock standard and no modifications have been made

TESTING:

Supplied with a standard Telco wall plug, plugged it in and then checked outgoing and incoming calls - no problems at all

Hearing Aid volume adjustment is working fine too - this is purely a receiver amplifier, it makes the received person should louder or softer - works really well, loud means LOUD!

Rotary dial speed is correct and smooth in operation

*** these telephones were designed to use the old pulse signalling - sending pulses to the exchange to indicate the number you have dialled - these days tones are used however MOST Telstra telephone exchanges will still "understand" the phone but these phones will NOT work with modern private phone systems that are expecting to receive tones - example: say you called a large business and the message you get is something like "please dial 1 for customer service, 2 for billing enquiries etc" - this phone will not be able to tell those systems what service you require because it does not send tones.
Fortunately the trend these days is for voice recognition systems, so this type of private phone system will simply say "please state the service you require" - you say "Billing" and it will say "sorry I didn't understand that, did you say zoo? putting you through to zoo" love modern technology

But seriously, for general calling of family and friends, the telephone will be great - no issues on that score.

Great functional telephone where you have a desire to create that olde world feel in the house or even on a film/video set, some of my phones have been used as props in the past.
