HISTORY:

My "world" is 'the arts' and more specifically, music, artwork and hand crafted/decorated chinaware's.

I am not a film enthusiast but an associate has asked me to find new owners for THEIR large collection of photographic and film related items ... this is one of those items.

While the world of 8mm/Super 8mm is not my area of expertise, I am learning fast! and my training in electronics helps too!

While I always try to be extremely detailed in my descriptions and provide as much information as possible regarding the items I am offering, I am not so sure there is much to say about this editor, except it was fun to use! Not for editing but I found it very useful to quickly run a film to check the contents. I have tons of commercial and personal films to look through and it was a snap with this editor, saved loading up the projector each time - running the film and then rewinding. That's my take on this editor but of course for film buffs who are into splicing and dicing of their film stock then I would expect this is also fine for that purpose!

So here we go with some details ...

FUJICA - Film Viewer Editor

Made in Japan

Circa late 1970's

Australian market model: 240V AC operation with 3 pin (earthed) plug

Film format: Super 8 & Standard 8

MAXIMUM reel size: 210mm (either supply or take-up)

Mechanical film winding in either direction using a manual cranking system (NO motors here!)

Reasonable size (but not large) viewing screen: 90mm x 120mm

Viewing angle: not sure but if I viewed from too sharp an angle, a lot of picture detail is lost - best to view "front on"

Brightness did not appear to be adjustable but I found it "acceptable" in most light conditions

Uses a 6V 10W lamp so I guess you can't expect it to be too bright!

ORIGINAL manual is supplied - this was particularly useful when I needed to change from Super 8 format to Regular 8 - it is not difficult to change film formats but some guidance helped a lot.

I believe you can "mark" points on the film being reviewed, for later editing, using a button. I had no intention of editing any film so I never checked this function out.

As far as I can see, you cannot edit directly on this equipment - I guess some sort of splicing tool is required.

NO fancy extras i.e no sound capability nor frame counting

Fun to use (for me anyway - a novice to film) although I would have loved it more if it was capable of 16mm! I have some 16mm film which I would have loved to run through this editor, but of course cannot.

Actually another use for this editor was as an educational tool. I used it to show my daughter how "stop motion" worked in the cartoons and also how films are just a series of still frames, usually each being slightly different than the previous frame and when I wound up the speed of the editor, she could see how the jerky movements turned into a nice flowing film with motion - great!

EQUIPMENT BEING OFFERED:

FUJICA E55 DUAL FILM EDITOR

FUJICA (Original) printed manual

Clear plastic front cover for the editor

Spare film reel (take up)

All in the original outer box, with the original polystyrene foam internals - this is important as it means I can easily and safely ship this equipment

COSMETIC CONDITION:

I know from my associate that this equipment was kept in a cool, dry place in their "projection area" and a visual inspection confirms the condition is very good.

The outer box is a bit "brownish" looking from age, that happens to the best of us!

Inside, I was amazed that the E55 is still in it's original plastic protective material and all the polystyrene foam is intact - I don't think he used this very much.

I carefully extracted the E55, took off the front clear plastic cover and opened up the arms on either side.

So clean!

Plugged in the equipment and it jumped to life! Nice light glow from the viewing screen, which is clean and not scratched.

Ran a number of Super 8 & Regular 8 films through the editor and I had no problems viewing the frames, winding in either direction and focus was fine.

Quite a light piece of equipment at 2.5Kg - not a struggle to move around.

I have now repacked the E55 into the outer box, sealed the box and it sits now waiting for a new owner.

USED Exactly as described NO returns
