For experimentation because I only can find the most basic of information about this device which I found lurking on one of the spare parts shelves I am clearing up.

I believe this device has been out of production for a long time.

The following details from the transistor tester:
NPN Bipolar
hFE 400+ - tested all devices and the minimum was 410 with a maximum approaching 500
Assumption is that this is designed to detect visible light (380 ~ 780nm)
I could not find datasheets in my library and online searching revealed nothing as well
Full part # printed on the side of the TO-18 metal package (OPTEK logo) OP D83 602 MEXICO
All devices are marked the same so I believe these are all from the same batch 602 and made in Mexico
COSMETIC CONDITION:

Clean
Only lightly oxidised legs, still shiny
