Crazy wacky "manufactured" television pop group of the late 60's - I grew up with this music as a kid, as many other baby boomers would have also.
The Monkees comprised of:
Davy Jones
Mike Nesmith
Micky Dolenz
Peter Tork
"Manufactured" band for the television series but very very popular and they produced a stream of hit songs at the time. Many of the songs on this compilation you never hear any more and some are rare or previously unleashed versions.
Many very well known songwriters also got in on the act, songs written by Neil Diamond, David Gates, Harry Nilsson, Neil Sedaka and others plus members of the band also wrote a few of these songs - side 3 has a lot of these songs, particularly those by Mike Nesmith who many considered at the time, was the only "real" muso amongst them.
Micky and Peter were the clowns, Mike was quite subdued and Davy was the "chick magnet" with the shining stars in his eyes hahaha
This is a special double album compilation from the record label, but it is just great hearing these old songs from the group in nice clean analog sound.

Gatefold cover is in very good condition, just a little light edge wear from handling and there is a significant tear to the front opening edge which has been repaired successfully to prevent further damage.
Rear cover and inside are in excellent condition.
Includes the two inner printed sleeves, one has a very comprehensive history of The Monkees and the other is "Monkee Mug Shots" - photographs of the band.
