HISTORY:

I admit to having an affinity with telephone equipment of all kinds, the telecommunications industry is where my professional technical career began many many moons ago!

Over the years, for personal interest, I collected a lot of "interesting" Telco equipment including nice Oak wall phones, Candlesticks, all of the PMG phones and a lot of exchange equipment, even the large group selectors and finals used in SXS exchanges of days gone by.

While travelling overseas I would see these "interesting foreign" telephones and bought them back with me to investigate further and this is one such instrument that was purchased in USA.

Totally not permitted for use here in Australia as it had no Telecom approval number but I wasn't planning to connect it to the "PSTN network" in any case. It was intended to be a fun thing, a "boys toy" which I envisaged interfacing with my communications equipment plus internal house telephone system - yes, I had a fully automatic intercom system installed throughout the house - doesn't everyone! Even a old AN616 Commander system too. I knew a guy who had rigged up telephone poles in his large backyard (he was on acreage) and had overhead wires, glass insulators, pole boxes and more .... every now and again he would climb the ladder, butt hanging from his belt, to relive his old days as a linesman! Takes all kinds to make up the world ...

As time went by .... this telephone just sat in the box, kept company by a myriad of other "interesting" telephone things .... until today, I took it out and decided I am at the stage of life where this needs to go somewhere else that can make use of it OR just display it somewhere as a "talking point" when mates drop by.

This 5 line (analog) telephone is NEW and until today, never looked at in detail .... lots of detail to follow (see below)

WHY WOULD YOU WANT ONE OF THESE 5 LINE TELEPHONES?

Collector of Telco curiosities

Use it to connect various communications systems to a single instrument.

Admittedly, not many people may want this but in my case I had radio interface systems in use and a number of copper wire telephone 2 wire lines. Of course those copper lines have been replaced by "Internet Plus Phone" bundles but you can still use this instrument happily via the telephone port on your home VOIP telephone service or if you have them, multiple SIP devices.

Please read below for further information regarding possibilities, being creative in the use of this instrument ...

DIMENSIONS:

This instrument is quite large and heavy, the dimensions are:

228mm Wide x 235mm Front to Back x 60mm Height (Rear but if the handset is in place, this height increases to 95mm)

Weight: 1.8Kg

COSMETIC CONDITION:

NEW

Removed from the box which had become pretty tatty over the years, this was purchased in the early 2000's!

CLEAN

NO discolouration

NO damage to the casing or buttons

NO marks or scratching to the case or handset

Unused memory number labels

Internal memory battery has not even been enabled (pull the small plastic tab as instructed in the manual) but I really think those button batteries will need replacing in any case (type 392 2x)
