HISTORY (Story time!)

Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.

Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.

If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE

I have been in the electronics game for a long long time and enjoy it immensely ... during my time I come across a lot of 'interesting' pieces of gear and if considered to have obsolete functionality or it is just plain old non-functional, I take out the interesting parts.

Over the years I have collected and stored a lot of these parts, many were not properly documented and this is one of them!

Cute little Black 'dot' transistor with Gold plated legs from a ..... (that's the lack of documentation which I began in the 1990's so these are pre-1990's)

I have absolutely no idea what the original equipment was but probably a major manufacturer, most likely to be US based and with a function in the area of industrial control or test equipment (I delved a lot into Agilent, HP, IBM and many others in those days)

The body looks to be a resin, not metal or plastic and the shape is unusual too - round but with a flat across all of one side but only half the height.

Their original function? NI (No Idea) but definitely small signal and probably switching or less probable, audio frequency or perhaps both!

Enough of the introduction, down to the details ...

UNIDENTIFIED MANUFACTURER - Small Transistor (VERY small)

Black 'dot' is the head measuring 4mm diameter x 3mm height

Gold plated legs

Pack of 4 transistors because each of these appear to be different 'type' numbers, I just can't identify the characteristics of each type.

ALL devices have had their gain tested (results below)

The part number printed on the side of the transistors are:

923EA

930D8

536DP

Unmarked (print appears to have rubbed off)

Hfe across all four devices is in the range 88 ~ 145

ALL are NPN Silicon BJT's

I do not have the foggiest idea what the characteristics of these type numbers are, I can find no references in my library of transistors nor online.

It would be very nice to have a wonderful piece of gear like the HP4155 to take a much closer look at the transistor characteristics (alas, although I have had the joy of owning a lot of HP gear over the years, never a 4155)

Never seen one? Just drool over this ...

HP4155A

So there is not a lot else to tell, they work but ...

Clean

Yes, these are 'pulls' from a board but the legs are straight(ish) and no weakness at the body.

Being very small (smaller than a typical BCxxx device) I have again repacked them into a sealed clear plastic packet

These are offered as a single pack of four devices (mixed types it would appear) NOT individually

USED Exactly as described
