DVD Laser assembly - complete

Model DV34 1200W mechanism

Laser optical unit is unidentified ... it is NOT the HD850 or HD65

The only marking on the laser unit head is a single V

Before using these you must desolder the anti-static bridge, although I can find no data on these optical units, the bridge which must be desoldered is easy to spot - located at the left hand end of the ribbon connector.

You should look very carefully at your own faulty laser optical pickup assembly and determine if this one will suit your machine - I WILL NOT ADVISE YOU ON THIS, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK COMPATIBILITY

I do know that these are absolutely not the common HD65 or HD850's which are commonly used with the DV34 transport. The component layout is totally different, the casing is different (black plastic) and its well, just different.

These optical laser pickup assemblies are brand new but appear to be generic - other than the type number there is no manufacturer name on them.

Normally you can expect these to be a "drop in" replacement, no special equipment or tools needed to align them as this has been done at the factory - AFTER you desolder the anti-static bridge.

If you love your DVD player and it has died on you (and they all do, eventually) then changing the laser assembly may be the way to go. If you haven't already tried it, first give your existing laser assembly a VERY GENTLE clean with a cotton bud dipped in diluted cleaning solution (water plus Iso alcohol, about 3 - 1 mix) and use the other end of the cotton bud to dry off the laser lens. If this doesn't help, then your laser most likely needs replacing.

Supplied in original anti-static bag, boxed
